Every year, CFIS celebrates the academic, athletic and community achievements of our students in Junior & Senior High. An annual awards ceremony is held to recognize these students. In addition to these, the CFIS Advancement Society has been funding several monetary awards and scholarships since 2007.
This award is given annually to a student from each grade in Junior High who has in their own right taken on a challenge with vigour and determination. As is characteristic of a pioneer, these students have demonstrated a curiosity to learn more and have shown the courage to persevere.
All we can expect is for each student to try his or her best. This award is given to the students who are able to maintain a perfect mark, or 5, for Effort in all their subjects, and through an entire academic year.
This award is given to the CFIS Junior High students who have achieved the highest overall academic average in their grade level.

The Lester B. Pearson award is given to one student in each class who demonstrates strength of character, social responsibility, community involvement, personal initiative and a positive attitude.
Lester B. Pearson had an easygoing personality, great charm and an extraordinary ability to build consensus. Underneath the warmth was grit and determination to make the world a better place. When the world was in trouble Pearson was the one they turned to. He played a prominent role in resolving conflicts in the Middle East, Indochina and Korea. Although Pearson was an idealist, he was no idle dreamer. He said in 1955, "A true realist is the man who sees things both as they are and as they can be. In every situation there is the possibility of improvement; in every life the hidden capacity for something better." It was exactly this manner that won him the trust of so many nations, as the president of the United Nations and led him to win one of the world's highest honours, the Nobel Peace Prize.
This award is given annually to one Grade 12 student registered at Calgary French & International School who exhibits excellence in leadership demonstrated by traits such as initiative, motivation, responsibility and commitment. One cash award per year is given commencing in 2010.
This award is funded through a collection from Board members from each of the three CFIS boards in Donna Finley’s honour. Donna Finley, a parent at the school, was a driving force behind developing a new vision for CFIS. Donna came forth at a critical time to help guide the school through a crossroads and towards a new strategic direction. During her time as President of CFIS, her vision and leadership enabled the purchase of the Cougar Ridge site and the construction of the new $20 million facility, the introduction of Junior and Senior High school programs, the introduction of Spanish education, the creation of innovative community partnerships, and the reassertion of the school’s pioneering role in language education.
