**Please note: Children applying for Grades 1-12 must come from a French immersion/French school.
Complete the application form and send or mail it to the attention of the Admissions Department at the above address with the following:
Please ensure all information is legible and complete. Incomplete applications will not be processed. Once applications are received by the Admissions Department, an email will be sent confirming receipt. Please ensure that your email is correct and legible.
It is important that the Calgary French & International School be a good fit for the student, and be best able to meet the educational needs as well as the social and emotional needs of those students offered placement. Once an application has been received the appropriate pedagogical director will review it and determine whether the applicant qualifies to move to the next level in the admissions process.
Families will be contacted via email with the date of either observation/interview (in the case of Preschool to KG) or testing (Grades 1-12). Applicants may test in a group session with other grades.
Students applying from out of province/country must provide copies of recent test results. As well, they may be asked to have a test proctored locally. A Confidential Reference questionnaire may be required to be completed by the applicant’s current school.
Some students may also be invited to spend a partial or full day in a CFIS class. In this way they have an opportunity to meet with other students and gain an appreciation of a typical day in their grade. It will also enable the teachers to understand any requirements specific to that student.
Once all documents and testing/observation results are reviewed an email will be sent to advise families of acceptance or non-acceptance. Notification is generally sent within two weeks of testing. The school decision is final.
If the applicant is qualified for placement, and there is not a placement available the applicants name will be placed on the Wait List. Families will be contacted immediately should a placement become available.
Once the non-refundable deposit is received by CFIS the placement will be confirmed.
